Our Mission

Dirt to Dinner: In the Classroom empowers educators to bring agriculture and nutrition to life through real-world lessons that engage students, spark curiosity, and strengthen learning. By connecting classroom concepts to the global food system, we make teaching more effective, relevant, and fun for today’s learners.

Our Vision

We envision a generation of curious, informed students who understand where their food comes from, how it’s grown, and why it matters to inspire them to think critically, make healthier choices, and appreciate their connection to the world’s food system.

About Us

Dirt to Dinner: In the Classroom is a non-profit organization that believes that understanding where our food comes from is one of the most powerful lessons a student can learn. By connecting agriculture, nutrition, and real-world food system topics, we help teachers make learning more meaningful, engaging, and relevant.

We’re doing this because the food system is vast — from farmers and scientists to engineers, nutritionists, data analysts, and logistics experts. We also have been educating consumers on the ag & food space for almost a decade via our online publication, Dirt to Dinner. By creating Dirt to Dinner in the Classroom, we hope to spark students' curiosity to inspire future careers across every link in the food chain. Whether a student becomes a plant biotechnologist, a food policy analyst, a supply-chain specialist, or simply a more informed consumer, we believe this knowledge helps build a stronger, more sustainable world.

At Dirt to Dinner in the Classroom, our goal is simple: to engage students, empower teachers, and cultivate curiosity about the food that feeds us all.
